In 2016 and in 2017, the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture (Lithuania) initiated joint scientific and cultural heritage conservation expeditions (the Project Manager was Audronė Vyšniauskienė; partners: the Faculty of History of Vilnius University, the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Nesvizh”, the Department of History and Cultural Heritage Conservation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; the project was funded by the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). During the expeditions the condition of the crypt of the Corpus Christi Church in Nesvizh, as well as painted, stone, glass and metal parts contained therein, was assessed; its initial historical, architectural, polychromatic and cultural heritage conservation research, as well as anthropological research on some burials (the remains), was conducted. In addition, demonstration restoration works of some minor components of the crypt were carried out, and recommendations about how to preserve the crypt and adapt it to visitors were put forward .
Pages of this website are devoted to a more detailed presentation of research carried out in 2016 and in 2017.
